The winners in the singles events will be rewarded with nearly 47 million kronor each.

The total prize money in the Grand Slam tournament amounts to 810 million kronor. The increase is "by far" the largest in Wimbledon's history.

"I hope the players are happy. It's a lot of money," says Deborah Jevans, chair of the All England Club, which organizes the tournament.

The announcement comes after players demanded a larger share of the winnings from the four Grand Slam tournaments, including Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open.
