Andrea Francisi, operations manager of the organizing committee, says they are working on a solution for medals that become detached from their ribbons.
"We are aware of the situation, have seen the images, and we are working on this," Francisi says.
In Ebba Andersson's case, her silver medal came loose after this weekend's skiathlon race during the victory celebration. However, she is far from alone. Breezy Johnson, who won the Olympic gold medal in downhill, and German biathlete Justus Strelow are among those who have experienced the same problem.
However, this is not the first time there have been problems with Olympic medals. At Paris 2024, athletes complained that the medals began to "rust" and changed color.
