In December 2023, Ringen crashed in a competition in the Continental Cup in Engelberg. The 28-year-old suffered injuries to his face and also took a hit to his hip.

After being absent from competition since then, he writes on Instagram that his career is over.

"It's been over a year since the serious accident that left me bedridden for large parts of 2024. The development has been stable and mostly in the right direction", he writes and continues:

"Considering the development over the past year, I clearly see that my body will not be compatible with top-level sports for a long time, if ever. It's therefore with a heavy heart that I'm now putting my skis on the shelf".

Ringen took 19 podium places in the Continental Cup during his career, including seven first places.
