The devastating fires in the Los Angeles area are forcing the gala organizers to revise their plans. Now, The Recording Academy is announcing that the festivities surrounding this year's Grammy Awards will be significantly scaled back.
Several Grammy events, including the traditional parties arranged by the major music companies, have been canceled or postponed, writes Variety.
The gala, which is the American music industry's high-society evening, will be held as planned on Sunday, February 2, but now with a more explicit purpose of raising money for the fire victims and honoring those who have worked to combat the fires.
The Recording Academy has so far collected more than 2 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 22 million kronor, in emergency aid to people in the music industry affected by the fires.
