On New Year's Day, the news came that coach Enzo Maresca and Chelsea were parting ways, after the team had taken only two points in their last three Premier League matches.
The first task after Maresca's departure could have been easier, and away at Manchester City it looked like a loss for Chelsea for a long time after Tijjani Reijnders scored to make it 1-0 at the end of the first half.
But Chelsea, led by the club's U21 coach Calum McFarlane for the day, managed to fight back. Enzo Fernández made it 1-1 well into stoppage time and gave Arsenal a helping hand at the same time.
Arsenal now lead the Premier League by six points over Manchester City and Aston Villa.
