The annual gala dinner for journalists working at the White House was interrupted when a gunman rushed past a security checkpoint and opened fire.
After the attack on April 25, the journalists' association organizing the dinner has decided it will be rescheduled for July 24. Trump praised the decision, calling it a "sign of strength and perseverance" in a post on Truth Social.
Several shots were fired inside the hotel, where hundreds of guests were present, including Donald Trump, his wife Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and a large number of journalists. A security guard was shot while wearing a bulletproof vest before the attacker was tackled to the ground.
