There were reports of bedbugs in the Economics Department's premises at Uppsala University. However, after several investigations, no traces of the bugs have been found, UNT reports.

A pest control company first performed a visual inspection using a vacuum cleaner, among other things. To be on the safe side, they also used three flea dogs.

Our staff found no traces of bedbugs. The information in this case is very vague. We have one person who claims to have been bitten by bedbugs. In this context, it must be remembered that reactions to bites can only occur after a couple of weeks, says Viktor Thege, district manager at the pest control company Rentokil, to UNT.

Parts of Ekonomikum had to close after Thursday's alarm, but have now reopened.

Filmstaden Luxe in Uppsala has been closed since October after being hit by bedbugs. The cinema is undergoing extensive renovations and is not expected to reopen until January 2026.
