Not a single shrimp landed at the fishing port on Tuesday morning. The reason is attributed to Storm Dave, which hit the West Coast hard over the Easter weekend with wind gusts of up to 30 meters per second.
Since the fish auction is closed on public holidays, shrimp were last sold on Maundy Thursday.
"If it hadn't been windy, the boats would have been out on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday to land the catch today," Roger Thilander tells GP.
The hope is that new shrimp will arrive on Wednesday - but they will likely be sold at a higher price than usual.
