Hallberg was the assistant coach to head coach Roger Melin in the previous season. Earlier, Hallberg worked as an assistant coach in Leksand and Oskarshamn.
Since I met Fredrik, I have noticed that there is a very great knowledge of hockey. He has a very good understanding of how we want to play in AIK, our DNA and how we see ice hockey. Hallberg was an easy decision for us quite early, says AIK's sports manager Lasse Johansson in a video on the club's website.
The leadership team is also strengthened by the former AIK player Richard Gynge. The fan favorite gets the role of team advisor, and will help the team on the ice as well as act as a sounding board for Lasse Johansson.
Gynge ended his hockey career after the 2023/2024 season. It became five seasons on two stints in the AIK jersey, with the last one as captain.
Last season, Markus Åkerblom started as head coach for AIK. He was fired in December and replaced by Roger Melin, who took the club to the hockey allsvenskan final against Djurgården.
