As more people use electric scooters, accidents are also increasing. In 2025, seven people died and 6,624 were injured in electric scooter-related accidents. The Swedish Transport Agency will now investigate whether the current rules are sufficient and propose possible changes, according to a press release.

The authority believes that many accidents could be avoided if the rules were followed more closely. The assignment is to be completed in early 2027.
