At the end of October, Svenska kraftnät was subjected to a data breach, and over 280 gigabytes of data containing personal information and sensitive data about the electricity system were stolen. On Wednesday, the hacker group announced that the information had been posted on the darknet.
There was a link to download but it didn't work, so we can't say whether it was leaked, but we assume so, says information security manager Cem Göcgoren to SVT.
According to Svenska kraftnät, the stolen information is partly classified, but not classified as security-protected. This means that it does not pose a risk to Sweden's security.
"Since it was stolen, we have always assumed that the information would leak. But it has no negative impact other than that it shows that we should have had better security," Cem Göcgoren tells SVT.
