Victory Day marks the end of World War II. Normally, the Russian regime flaunts its military might in the form of missiles, tanks and aircraft during the parade, which is held on May 9th every year.

This will not be the case this year, officials say, citing the "current operational situation" without further details.

Last year, a huge parade was held, with unusually important international guests - such as Presidents Xi Jinping of China and Lula da Silva of Brazil, respectively, and Slovakia's Prime Minister, Robert Fico.
