The accident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, and the accident site on the E20 at Brännebrona north of Götene was closed. Since 2 p.m., the stretch of road has been reopened, but with reduced speed past the accident site.
"This is being done to ease the traffic situation on this busy travel day," the police write on their website.
The road will be closed again at 8 p.m. for continued salvage work. There is no forecast for how long the closure will last, according to the police.
The accident was a head-on collision. A 25-year-old man died.
