Northvolt has found itself in a financial crisis in 2024, but still decided to pay out 59 million kronor in a bonus program to selected employees at the end of the year.

This sparked protests on the factory floor, where over 400 employees signed a petition. Now, the newspaper Affärsvärlden reveals that the company is launching a new and broader bonus program – this time for factory workers.

1,800 employees at the factory in Skellefteå will be covered by the initiative, which is to be paid out during the first quarter of 2025.

“It is aimed at production workers, to reward and ensure that we can retain them at this critical stage. So, in that sense, more people are affected,” writes Erik Zsiga, press chief at Northvolt, in an SMS to Affärsvärlden.
