"Some demand that the match between France and Israel be moved. I do not accept this", writes France's Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau on X.
Several Israeli supporters were attacked in Amsterdam on Thursday evening, after the Europa League match between Ajax and the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv. Clips spreading on social media show aggression from both sides and over 60 people have been arrested, according to Dutch police. At least five Israelis have been taken to hospital.
"France does not back down"
The chaotic scenes in the Dutch capital will not, however, affect the Nations League match between France and Israel being played at Stade de France in Paris next Thursday.
"France does not back down because it would mean giving in to threats of violence and anti-Semitism", writes Bruno Retailleau on X.
The Paris police chief has been tasked with taking necessary security measures for the match.
"Have already started planning"
There will also be increased security in Norwegian Bodø, when Bodø/Glimt hosts Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League in January. This is reported by NRK.
More resources will be allocated by the police. We have already started planning, says Deputy Chief of Staff Cathrin Nerhus Lewin in the Nordland police district.
We are making a risk assessment of the match and the experiences we have gained from the match in Amsterdam. Then we will certainly contact the Dutch police to find out what they did before, during, and after the match.
