The now 26-year-old perpetrator had been released from psychiatric care the day before the crime and sentenced to probation and community service for assaulting and threatening a person with a knife. Two days before the murder, he had threatened ambulance personnel with a baseball bat. Despite this, no information was provided about the man's history of violence in connection with the call.
The Swedish Work Environment Authority has now filed charges against Region Gävleborg for suspected work environment offences and wants to investigate whether anyone has committed a work environment violation, the authority tells SVT.
A female ambulance paramedic was killed in the incident. The man was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
