IFK Karlskrona has debts of 1.3 million kronor. Some of this is owed to the Swedish Handball Association (SHF), while approximately 886,000 kronor is listed as “short-term debts” to bus companies, the municipality and others.

In addition, there is a bank loan of around 200,000 kronor, according to the newspaper.

Ahead of the season, IFK Karlskrona chose to pause senior activities. The men's team was then in the second-highest league, Allsvenskan, and the women's team in Division 4.

There is a separate youth association. It is not affected by the bankruptcy.

IFK Karlskrona was founded in 1921 and is 13th in the men's all-time table. The men's team has played 32 seasons in the top league (most recently the 1994–1995 season).
