Sebastian Strandberg ensured that Växjö went into the final period against Sparta Prague with a 1-1 score, a result that seemed to hold up over the last 20 minutes. But with two minutes left, Rosén scored the decisive goal with his 2-1 goal.

Ryan Murphy opened the scoring for Salzburg at home against Färjestad, but Marian Studenic equalized half a minute later with a distinct backhand into the top of the net, a goal that the referees needed to video review from different angles before it was approved.

Färjestad had the chance to take the lead in the middle of the second period, playing shorthanded.

Then Salzburg countered to make it 2-1 with an individual performance by Canadian Nash Nienhuis.

Färjestad thought they had equalized, but that goal was also video reviewed and disallowed. Instead, Jeremy Groleau received a match penalty for a check to the head, an offense that preceded the goal.

Scott Kosmachuk made it 3-1 for Salzburg shortly after.
