The accident occurred in Tyresö outside Stockholm at around 6 p.m. The bus was in regular service.
Police personnel were nearby and performed life-saving measures until ambulance personnel arrived on site, says police spokesperson Mats Eriksson.
The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance but her life could not be saved.
The incident will be investigated.
