Adrian Kempe Shines as Kings Edge Oilers in Stanley Cup Thriller

The Los Angeles Kings' Swedish star Adrian Kempe began by being involved in the creation of his team's first goal of the evening, already after just over three minutes, when Andrej Kuzmenko scored.

But Kempe had more to offer when his team opened the season's Stanley Cup playoffs against last year's finalist Edmonton.

In the second period, he scored the 3-0 goal himself when he stood conveniently in front of the goal. Shortly afterwards, the home team also made it 4-0 and seemed to be heading for a comfortable premiere win in the playoffs.

But Edmonton came back, and not surprisingly, it was Connor McDavid who was behind much of it. The Canadian scored a goal and three assists when the team came back from 0-4 to 5-5.

Among other things, he played forward to Mattias Janmark, who scored one of the goals.

But Los Angeles would have the final say. With just 42 seconds left until overtime, Philip Danault scored and gave the team the lead in the match series with 1-0 in matches.

Adrian Kempe ended the evening with one goal and two assists, and is thus the best Swedish point scorer in the playoffs so far.
