The drug Subutex is being discontinued in Sweden, reports Aftonbladet . Subutex is used to treat opioid addiction, including heroin.

"This is going to be an emergency. We need to prioritize completely and quickly testing alternatives for patients," says Joar Gutestam, researcher and addiction physician at Karolinska Institutet, to the newspaper.

The company behind Subutex, Indivio, is stopping selling Subutex in Sweden and several other European countries. They will focus on the domestic American market, reports Ekot , citing a press release.
