The Ådalsbanan on the Västeraspby-Långsele stretch will open for traffic as early as Thursday evening, announces the Swedish Transport Administration. The Main Line through upper Norrland is also expected to be able to open earlier than planned. For this, the prognosis is that traffic can roll again from 15.00 on October 2.
It was between September 6 and 7 that heavy rainfall hit Västernorrland and destroyed roads and railways. Two trains derailed, one on the Ådalsbanan and the other on the Main Line. Previously, the stop on the Ådalsbanan was expected to last until Friday, September 26, and on the Main Line through upper Norrland on October 6.
The coastal stretch of the Ådalsbanan and the Botniabanan opened on September 15.
