According to the newspaper, the nurses are not enough to man all the vehicles. This despite the fact that ambulance care in the region will become increasingly important when the emergency services at Sollefteå hospital are closed down – something that is expected to lead to over 1,000 more transports per year.

To meet the increased need, nursing assistants are now being intensively trained to become ambulance nurses, a professional category that the region abolished ten years ago.
