The variable (3-month) mortgage interest rate rose to 2.67 percent, compared to 2.64 percent in February, according to a review by the comparison site Zmarta. Skandiabanken's interest rate was 2.50 percent at the same time, while Ikano Bank had an average interest rate of 2.82 percent.

Fixed interest rates rose more. The three-year interest rate rose to 3.14 percent in March, compared to an average of 3.03 percent among banks the month before.

At the same time, savings interest rates have remained unchanged.

"Banks are raising mortgage rates while savings rates are stagnant. This increases margins, and households are the ones who pay the bill," said Zmarta's household economist, Ola Söderlind.
