She had a long list of roles in theater, film, and TV. She stepped onto the stage for the first time as an eight-year-old. She became most well-known to the Swedish people as Bodil in the TV series "Varuhuset" in the late 80s.
Monica Nielsen was also a singer and participated with "En röd vals" in Melodifestivalen 1966, and she often interpreted ballads by Lars Forssell and Brecht together with Monica Dominique. During many summers, she was a recurring guest in the song program "Carl-Anton i Vita Bergen", which was broadcast on TV between 1981-1995.
Monica Nielsen was awarded in 2006 the royal medal Litteris et Artibus for "outstanding artistic achievements primarily in music, stage performance, and literature". In 2009, she received the Guldmasken for "Best female supporting role in a musical" in "My fair lady."

Monica Nielsen fell asleep on Sunday morning after a period of illness. She became 87 years old.
