The Gothenburg actor was known for roles in the films "Sällskapsresan", "Göta kanal" and the films about the Jönsson League, among others. He was also politically active, and in 2015 a tram in Gothenburg was named after him.
For everyone else he was this actor, but for me he was just a dad. We were close and had a very nice relationship. I will miss him very much, his daughter Lena Holmberg says to GP.
Lasse Åberg, who acted alongside Holmberg on several occasions, also expressed his sadness over his passing to Aftonbladet.
"It was very sad. Soon the whole film crew will be gone," says Åberg.
He describes Weiron Holmberg as "a very cheerful and nice guy", and highlights his acting in "The Company Trip".
"He and Sven Melander were a kind of radar couple who chased cheap alcohol. They played the roles absolutely delightfully, I think," Åberg tells the newspaper.
Weiron Holmberg died at home.
