Örjan Ramberg worked as an actor at the Swedish Drama Theatre for 41 years.
The theatre noted his passing on social media and wrote that "Örjan Ramberg is a big part of Dramaten's modern history in many different ways."
At the same time, the turmoil that surrounded the actor's life was also touched upon: "Of course, even today it is impossible to avoid the memory of the controversies and conflicts that were connected to his person and his departure in 2019."
Dramaten later chose to delete the post, according to the theatre, due to the comments.
Started as a musician
Örjan Ramberg was born in Gothenburg in 1948 and initially planned a music career. He was part of the pop band Que with Micha Gabay, among others, and performed on a few occasions as a stand-in in the band Tages.
In the early 1970s, he had a few musical roles, including in "Hair" and as Herod in "Jesus Christ Superstar".
He trained from 1974 to 1977 at the Malmö Drama School and was hired at Dramaten in 1977, the same year he also made his film debut in the film adaptation of Ulf Lundell's novel "Jack".
He became a familiar face to television viewers in 1987 when he played the role of Harry Friberg in the Stieg Trenter films "Today Red", "Lysande Landning" and "Träff i helfigur" on SVT. He also appeared in the television series "Möbelhandlarens dotter".
Became a rescue
Örjan Ramberg has three children, daughter Tilde Fröling with actress Ewa Fröling, son Auguste Rahmberg with actress Lena Olin and a son with actress Lena Nilsson.
Ramberg also lived with the artist Josefin Nilsson in the 1990s, a relationship that was mentioned - although without Ramberg being mentioned by name - in the SVT documentary "Josefin Nilsson - Love me for who I am" from 2019.
In 2015, he appeared on SVT's entertainment program "Stars at the Castle." There, he spoke openly about childhood bullying, youth drug abuse, and how acting became a salvation for the struggling Gothenburger.
I see myself as a fairly modest person, but many people probably think of me as a bit of a "scoundrel," said Örjan Ramberg in an interview with TT before the program.
