Oscar-Winning Actress Diane Keaton Dies at 79

The Oscar-winning actress and director Diane Keaton, known from films like "The Godfather" and "Annie Hall", is dead, according to People who refers to the family's spokesperson.

Keaton made a breakthrough in the 1970s in the Godfather films, where she played the gangster Michael Corleone's girlfriend and wife Kay Adams.

She was also known for her many collaborations with director Woody Allen, with whom she also had a relationship. She won an Oscar for Best Actress for "Annie Hall" from 1977. She defended Woody Allen when he was accused of abusing his daughter in the 90s.

"Woody Allen is my friend and I continue to believe in him", she wrote then on the former Twitter.

Diane Keaton was nominated for two more Oscars for Best Actress, including the film "Marvin's Daughters" 1996.

In the 1980s, she worked more and more as a director and she directed, among other things, the video for Belinda Carlisle's hit "Heaven is a place on earth" from 1987. Keaton also directed episodes of the TV classic "Twin Peaks"

In 2021, she appeared in Justin Bieber's music video "Ghost".

Diane Keaton was never married and had no biological children. However, she adopted two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke.

Diane Keaton died in California. She became 79 years old.
