The actor Björn Andrésen, who made an international breakthrough in the Italian film "Döden i Venedig" and later was the subject of the documentary "Världens vackraste pojke", has passed away.

This is written by Dagens Nyheter who have spoken to the director Kristian Petri, who made the documentary together with Kristina Lindström.

The film team followed Andrésen for several years and got close to him.

This is what I think about the most now. All the fantastic moments with him. He was a brave person, says Kristian Petri.

Björn Andrésen was born in 1955 and first got a small role in Roy Andersson's "A Love Story" in 1970. Thereafter, he was awarded the lead role in Luchino Visconti's film adaptation of Thomas Mann's novel "Death in Venice".

He played the boy Tadzio, whom a famous male composer becomes infatuated with. He received enormous attention for the role and for his appearance.

In an interview with Göteborgs-Posten before the premiere of "The Most Beautiful Boy in the World", Andrésen told about how badly he was affected by being treated as a sex symbol and objectified by the whole world at the age of fifteen-sixteen.

Visconti behaved like a robber capitalist who did not hesitate to use a teenager to sell his film. If I, in today's situation, had seen someone else being treated as I was treated then, I would have done something about it.

During the 1980s, Björn Andrésen attended the Theatre School in Stockholm. He was also a keyboardist in the dance band Sven-Erics.

Andrésen's career as an actor lasted for several decades and he got roles in films and TV series, including Ari Aster's "Midsommar", SVT's "Lasermannen" and "Gentlemen & gangsters".

Björn Andrésen became 70 years old.
