The actor Anders Johannisson has passed away after a period of illness, reports the Cultural Centre Stadsteatern in Stockholm. He was 60 years old.

As a film actor, he appeared, among other things, in Killinggänget's "Four Shades of Brown" and in Jesper Ganslandt's "Apan". But most of all, he worked on the theatre stage. He was part of the City Theatre's permanent ensemble and, after his debut in 1991, went on to participate in 72 different productions – in recent years, among other things, in Eirik Stubø's production of Chekhov's "Three Sisters", in Carl Johan Karlson's "Vipeholm – the time before the future" and in Carolina Frände's "Lehman Trilogy".

Director Alexander Mørk-Eidem describes him as an actor who "mastered all aspects of the acting craft". "The Long Escape" became their last collaboration.

"Although he went through tough treatment for cancer, he wanted to be with us at the theatre he loved so dearly. We love you forever, Anders", says Mørk-Eidem according to a press release.
