Cal Foote was one of five Canadian junior players charged with, and acquitted of, sexual assault in connection with a high-profile trial following Canada's 2018 gold medal. All of the players denied any wrongdoing.
"We have done extensive research and a careful assessment before making our decision. We place high demands on everyone who represents Färjestad BK and feel confident in welcoming Cal to the club," says Rickard Wallin.
The 27-year-old defenseman has played more than 100 NHL games and was part of Tampa Bay's 2021 Stanley Cup-winning team. The contract is for one year.
