During the last ten years, a total of six people have been killed in connection with police or military exercises in Sweden, reports P4 Östergötland.

Accidents during police exercises are unusual. Only two cases with personal injuries have been reported in the last ten years, both in 2025.

On Thursday, a man, who was not employed by the police, was killed in an accident during an exercise for police employees in Borensberg outside Motala. The incident is being investigated as causing another person's death.

The other case occurred earlier this year when a police officer shot himself in the leg during a shooting range exercise in Alingsås.
