The difficult road conditions are due to falling temperatures and wet road surfaces that have frozen.

On national road 40, a passenger car skidded into a ditch between Frödinge and Ankarsrum outside Vimmerby just after 8 am.

At the same time, several accidents have occurred in the Sjuhärads area due to black ice. According to P4 Sjuhärad, one person has been taken to hospital after a single-vehicle accident on the old national road 40.

Outside Ulricehamn, road 1704 is completely closed in both directions after a passenger car skidded into a ditch.

It's extremely slippery, according to reports from the scene, says Bo Sandström, duty officer at the Södra Älvsborg rescue service, to Göteborgs-Posten.

Just after 05, a timber truck is also said to have overturned due to a single-vehicle accident east of Ullared.

A traffic accident has also occurred on the E6 between Vasatorp and Kropp, reports Helsingborgs Dagblad.

At 07.50, the Swedish Transport Administration announced that the motorway was completely closed due to the accident – by 8.30, traffic on the E6 was open again.
