Only when a third case of poisoning emerged did the Uppsala University Hospital decide to contact the police. A total of four people are now suspected of having been poisoned.

First, one person fell ill on October 25. A week later, on November 3, two more staff members fell ill and on Monday the prosecutor announced that a fourth person is also suspected of having been poisoned and that the cases are linked.

But a police report from the Academic Hospital was only filed after the third person fell ill.

Viktor Ekström, security manager at Akademiska, confirms the information, but does not want to answer why no police report was made immediately.

What I can confirm is that when suspicions arose about three cases, we chose to contact the police, so we will not comment on the individual case, says Viktor Ekström.

The academic hospital decided last week to start locking the doors to the department where the staff who were poisoned work and to introduce extra patrols with security guards.

Are there any plans to introduce any permanent changes to security procedures?

Not now, in that case we will decide on that when the police and prosecutor's preliminary investigation is complete, says Viktor Ekström.
