Four strokes under par is not a golf score to be ashamed of, but for Åberg and Norén it didn't get them very far when this week's PGA Tour competition began on Thursday.
The Swedish duo are six strokes behind the leaders, Min Woo Lee of Australia and Pierceson Coody of the USA, after 18 holes.
Scottie Scheffler, also making his season debut, rolled in nine birdies and is one stroke off the lead.
The first three rounds are played on three different courses, and the positive for Åberg and Norén is that they did not start on the course that was the easiest to score on.
