ABB is investing 120 million dollars (equivalent to 1.3 billion kronor) in expanding its manufacturing facilities in the USA, the automation company writes in a press release.
Most of the amount – 80 million dollars – is being invested in a new facility in Selmer, Tennessee, which will result in 50 new jobs. Additionally, 40 million dollars will be invested in Senatobia, Mississippi, creating 200 new jobs.
Both factories involved produce electrification equipment in the low-voltage segment, which is an important supplier to data centers and power plants.
ABB's US sales amounted to nearly 9 billion dollars last year, which accounts for around 27 percent of the group's total revenue. The group has a total of around 17,000 employees in the USA, in 20 states.
