On September 9, 2025, a man was shot dead on Hisingen, but since then there have been no fatal shootings. Shots have been confirmed twice, but without anyone being killed or injured.
"We had a negative trend where developments were constantly going in the wrong direction. Breaking it in the way that has happened now, I would say, is unique," Hampus Nygårds, head of police in Region West, told the newspaper.
However, he emphasizes that crime still exists.
There are still a lot of assignments being sent out. Children and young adults are still being recruited to commit serious violent crimes.
The worst year was 2013. There were 56 shootings in Greater Gothenburg. 30 people were injured and eight died.
