A child has died and one has been taken to hospital with injuries.
The day after, the small community in Kristianstad municipality is in mourning.
I was extremely sad. It's so terribly sad, says Jonas Holst, neighbor to the affected family.
Just a few weeks ago, there were balloons outside the house. Now, the police have cordoned off the entire plot and initiated an investigation into murder and attempted murder.
A cloud cover has settled over the small community, the rain is pouring down at times, and only a few sunbeams peek through.
We have children of about the same age. We didn't socialize, but we always greeted each other. They used to walk by every Saturday on their way to the gym. We cycled by a few weeks ago and saw that they had balloons and a party, says Jonas Holst and continues:
It's always been very quiet on this street.
Therefore, the news came as a shock to the entire family.
You never think that something's wrong. Then it's always very tragic when children are involved. You can't get away from that.
"It can happen to anyone"
Jonas Holst believes that the event will affect the neighbors on the street for a while.
It's clear that it will feel strange to walk by and know what happened.
Outside the local Ica store, residents are wondering how it could have happened. Thea Wanderfors heard about the news when she was at work and says that friends in nearby towns have started asking if she knows anything.
It's like that when you come from a small town. It also feels scary when something happens so close. It gives you a feeling that it can happen to anyone.
It was on Thursday evening that an adult man and a child were found dead in a residence outside Kristianstad. Another child was found injured, and an investigation into murder and attempted murder has been initiated.
Regarding the deceased man, the police have initiated a death investigation.
Lighting candles in the church
Just a stone's throw from the house lies the local church, where the flag is flying at half-mast.
Pastor Charlotta Rosman Nissen explains that they have activated crisis counseling.
I think people need a place with peace and quiet, and it's our job to make sure that place exists.
During the day, people have come by to light a candle in the church.
There have been people who don't have a relationship to the affected, but I assume more will come now in the evening. Lighting a candle is very important for many, others need to talk. It can be talks about how this could have happened. I think many feel powerless today.
