It's nothing new that the Arvika-raised center thrives at BCF Arena. This is where he has played ice hockey all winter.

And a couple of weeks ago, Jacob de la Rose experienced one of the greatest moments of his career when he helped lead Fribourg-Gotterón to the club's first championship title.

On Wednesday night, he had new reasons to celebrate in his Swiss home arena:

  1. He turned 31 that day.

  2. Tre Kronor took a convincing 6–0 victory, their second in four matches, during the World Cup in Switzerland.

  3. Jacob de la Rose himself was responsible for two of the goals.

"It's crazy fun, of course. It's awesome to play a World Cup on home soil, it's really fun," de la Rose tells Viaplay.

The gift: two assists

The newly-minted 31-year-old made it a psychologically important 2-0 with less than a minute left in the first period. A few minutes into the second period, he then made it 3-0 with a shot off the left crossbar.

Both times to the great cheers of the Fribourg crowd. Both times set up by Linus Karlsson.

"It's a lot of fun to play with him. And I got to give him some birthday presents," Karlsson tells Viaplay about the collaboration with de la Rose.

Somewhere along the line, Slovenia, one of the tournament's positive surprises so far, ran out of steam. But after a shock win over the Czech Republic and a narrow loss on penalties to Slovakia on Tuesday, the Slovenians looked to have run out of energy.

First shutout

By the end of the second period, Sweden had scored three more goals and with a 6–0 lead the victory was complete despite 20 minutes left to play.

It wasn't just Jacob de la Rose who impressed.

Lucas Raymond continues to be Tre Kronor's main offensive weapon. After scoring two more goals, the Detroit star is up to seven points in four games. Team captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson has the same total; he made three assists in the game. Another NHL defenseman who has excelled so far is Mattias Ekholm, who scored his third goal in the World Cup against Slovenia.

And at the back, Arvid Söderblom saved two Slovenian chances in the final period and secured the first World Cup shutout of his career.

Sweden has three matches remaining in the group stage: Italy on Friday, Norway on Saturday and Slovakia on Tuesday.
