The figure is the highest ever in a single year - for comparison, 52 doctors lost their licenses in 2023, which was the previous record high.
In total, HSAN revoked 137 professional credentials in 2025, including 31 nurses, an unusually low number for a year, according to the newspaper.
Long-term abuse is a recurring reason for HSAN to revoke professional licenses, as are convictions for crimes such as rape and drunk driving. There are also examples of the board revoking licenses because people were deemed grossly incompetent or lacked the necessary skills for the profession, writes Dagens Medicin.
