Hamburg has sold out the Volksparkstadion for the cup semifinal against northern rival Werder Bremen on March 23. With 57,000 tickets sold, it will set a record for the number of spectators at a women's match in Germany.

"It's more than just a sold-out football match," says board member Eric Huwer to the club's website.

Hamburg's previous largest attendance figure was in the city derby against St Pauli last autumn when 19,710 spectators were present.

The largest attendance figure recorded in a German women's football match was 44,808 who watched the 2023 cup final between Wolfsburg and Freiburg in Cologne.
