The other day, the required 50,000 signatures were reached, just three days after it started. This means the protest will now be submitted to the Finnish parliament for debate by politicians, Yle reports.
A few weeks ago, Google announced a huge investment in Finland, including data centres, with a total value of 13 billion euros, almost 150 billion kronor.
Several protest movements have also spread in the US, and just like in Finland and, to some extent, in Sweden, more and more people are worried that the energy-guzzling IT giants' data centres will, among other things, raise electricity prices.
