As many expected, the runners in the second heat took home the medals at the Indoor World Championships in Toruń, Poland. Canadian Christopher Morales Williams won ahead of American Khaleb McRae and Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago.

Williams won in a championship record time of 44.76 seconds.

The final was held in two heats because running on lanes one and two indoors is a major disadvantage. Therefore, the eight finalists were split into two heats.
