At least 40 people are believed to have been killed in a grenade attack on a market in Omdurman in the state of Khartum in Sudan on Saturday, according to a hospital source.
According to the source at al-Nao hospital, wounded people are still being brought in after the attack, which is said to have been carried out by the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Since April 2023, an armed conflict has been ongoing between RSF and the military in Sudan.
Both the army and RSF have been accused of targeting civilians, including healthcare personnel, and indiscriminately shelling residential areas.
