"Due to the ongoing debate, the authority has decided to let investigators manually go through driver's license revocations for 2024 and map the extent of revocations based on two elevated peth values", writes the Transport Agency in a press release.
The result shows that in approximately 430 cases of revocations, there were records of elevated peth values. In approximately 40 cases, the revocation of the driver's license was based on two tests that exceeded the limit values without complementary information from doctors.
The Transport Agency has been criticized for linking the right to hold a driver's license to the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines on a maximum of ten standard glasses of alcohol per week. According to several media outlets, thousands of Swedes have lost their driver's license after a doctor's visit – despite being sober at the wheel.
Due to these reports, the Transport Agency and the National Board of Health and Welfare were recently called to the Riksdag's traffic committee.
