The Danish National Police had at least 38 cases in 2024 involving young Swedes who traveled to Denmark to commit serious crimes for payment. The majority of the cases involve contract killings, reports Danish TV2.

The channel has gained insight into 18 of the cases and in one additional case being investigated by Swedish police. In several cases, there are more than one suspected perpetrator. Almost all are Swedes, but Danish citizens are also involved in a few isolated cases.

13 of the suspected, charged, and convicted Swedes are under 18 years old. Three of them are girls between 14 and 15 years old, according to TV2.

Criticism from Danish politicians has been harsh since the wave of violence – with Swedes traveling across the Sound – began in April 2024. Denmark's Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard (S) has previously told TT that Sweden must "clean up its mess".
