Two days after Storm Johannes arrived, 35,000 households remain without electricity.

The Finnish west coast is particularly affected, reports Hufvudstadsbladet. The most serious cause of the power outages is trees blown onto power lines.

Helicopters are still mapping the extent of the damage while repair work is under way; the work is being made more difficult and time-consuming by the severe weather conditions.

According to a supplier, in the worst-case scenario, it could take days before electricity is restored to customers.
