At least 27 prisoners in Ecuador have been found dead as a result of suffocation, authorities in the country say.
The prisoners were discovered on Sunday after a riot earlier that day, in which four people were killed.
A statement from the country's prison authority alleged that the prisoners had "suffocated each other." The incident occurred in the Machala prison in the province of El Oro.
