At least 27 people have died in recent days after a downpour in the state of Gujarat in western India.
Most of the dead are reported to have drowned. Rescue efforts have been initiated in the area where further monsoon rain is expected.
"The state is fully prepared to handle the situation and the coordination between different authorities is being intensified to ensure rapid rescue and relief efforts", says the state's relief commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey in a statement.
The worst affected are the cities of Palitana and Jesar where 824 millimeters of rain fell on Tuesday during the last 24 hours.
