The digitization of Åstorp's central archives drew attention when the municipality's IT department deleted a server and the results of 25 years of work were lost.

Order has now been restored, reports Helsingborgs Dagblad.

A full-time archivist has spent three months restoring the digital inventory. The archive contains documents and records dating from the 19th century onwards.

For the past 18 years, digitization had been handled by an employee who managed the municipality's central archives for ten percent of his working time.

The digital list was on a server that the IT department identified as a security risk and therefore deleted it.

When I understood everything that had happened, I felt completely empty, the employee previously told the newspaper.
